VIP guests at USJ 20 dinnerSUBANG Jaya assemblyman
Datuk Lee Hwa Beng and Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ)
president Ahmad Fuad Ismail took time off from their hectic
schedules to attend the USJ 20 (Austen and Russel phase) dinner in
the housing area on Sunday.
The residents gathered early to await the arrival of the special
guests.
The event was held to celebrate the first anniversary of the
formation of the USJ 20 residents pro tem committee, and also to
honour Ahmad Fuad’s extension as MPSJ president for a third term.
A sumptuous buffet spread was prepared for the VIP guests and
others. Also present was MPSJ councillor Yap Yun Fatt.
USJ 20 residents pro tem committee chairman Ahmad Salahuddin
Badaruddin and his committee members greeted the guests.
Ahmad Salahuddin, in thanking both leaders, said USJ 20 was one
of the more peaceful areas in the municipality.
He said the area was under close security surveillance, with two
security guards patrolling the area round-the-clock.
“Residents who are members of our neighbourhood watch pay RM40
monthly for the services of the security firm we engaged.
“By and large, our area has remained safe and free from
burglaries,’’ he added.
Lee commended the residents for playing their role to preserve
the area as a model housing estate.
He also paid tribute to Ahmad Fuad’s efforts to bring vast
progress to the Subang Jaya municipality.
“He does all the good work, but I take the credit. This is not
fair. His continued service here is vital for the growth and
progress of the municipality.
“The MPSJ president has worked tirelessly and he deserves all the
praise,’’ added Lee, who is also an MPSJ councillor.
Lee also had a word of advice for residents who did not support
the neighbourhood watch effort.
“RM40 is not a big amount, when you think of your family’s
safety. You have spent hundreds of thousands of ringgit to invest in
your comfortable homes, surely you can pay a small amount to be able
to live in a safe environment,’’ he added.
Ahmad Fuad said he was very glad to be able to spend some time
with residents at such gatherings.
“Although I am busy with my work, I always try to set aside some
time to meet residents and discuss and understand your problems. I
appreciate your willingness to work with the council,’’ he told the
residents.
Ahmad Fuad said he was glad to be able to serve the ratepayers
and pledged to do his best to bring more development to the
municipality.
“Although there are many pressures to deal with, the job will
have to be done. I would also like to thank Lee for his efforts,’’
he added.
Ahmad Salahuddin round-ed up the night with an announcement that
was greeted by applause.
“From January onwards, your monthly security subscription fees
will be reduced to RM35,’’ he told residents. |
