Residents welcome setting up of RTRESIDENTS of Pusat Bandar
Pu-chong 2 are a lot happier now that their township’s Rukun
Tetangga has been launched.
It was launched by RT director Azman Amin Hassan, from the
Welfare Depart-ment, at the Jalan Wawasan 2/6 playground recently.
RT Pusat Bandar Puchong chairman, Ng Num Thiam thanked the RT
director and Welfare Department official M. Muniandy for approving
the setting up of the RT in the township.
Pusat Bandar Puchong is a new township and many residents faced
problems like break-ins.
Realising that the police had insufficient manpower to cope with
the size of the estate, the residents formed a pro tem committee to
plan safety measures like employing two night watchmen. They also
recorded every resident’s particulars and held monthly meetings.
As a result, the crime rate has reduced and now with the
formation of RT in this area, more attention will be focused on the
security.
Azman was impressed with the efforts of the committee and has
approved allocations to build a community centre for the RT to carry
out more social activities for the youth, the elderly, women and
children.
Also present at the launch was Serdang MP, Datuk Yap Pian Hon.
A health talk was conducted in conjunction with the launch.
