USJ 23 Neighborhood News Brief ( No.9 )
Dated : 07/04/2001 (April 2001)

Police Emergency call : 03-55102220 or 035510222

To : All residents of USJ 23

A lot of things happened the past month, and much more things will happen from now. We need all residents full support and committed to make things happen for our own benefits. Gentlemen  come out and start getting involved, as we are indeed very disappointed with the negative, and don't care attitude of some of our residents, who are only good at complaining ,and not doing anything about thing it.

1.Zoning of USJ 23

Four committee members met Datuk Lee Hwa Beng on 3/04/2001 ,and during the dialogue, they were informed that USJ 23 ,USJ 24,USJ 26, & USJ 27 will be zoned with our kampong neighbors ,located across USJ 24.Datuk Lee explained that the purpose of this zoning is to foster goodwill, harmony and co-operation within the community .Games and social activities will be organized in the future. Another program will be a IT project, most likely USJ 23 residents will be the champion. The 1st.meeting of the to be appointed committee will be held on 29/04/01 and USJ 23 will have 2 representatives on it. This is a government project .

2.USJ Residents Association

AP Lyon (AJK) has kindly agreed to represent USJ 23 in this revived USJ Residents Association .The 1st.meeting will be held on 8/04/2001 at Lakeview, Subang Jaya. All USJ NWs or RA are involved. We will keep residents informed of  any new development. If RA is found to be not serving / benefiting our residents, we will then decide what next steps to take.

3.Break-ins in USJ 23, along USJ 23 /5 A and USJ 23/5 B

On 1/04/2001,it was reported 2 cases of break-in along USJ 23/5A .This happened at about 7.15 to 8.30 pm. and the residents were not in. Money and jewelry were stolen .

At the same day and time, another 2 cases of attempted break-in were reported along USJ 23/5A and USJ 23/5B.However they were not successful, possibly due to lack of time.

For all the 4 cases reported , the burglars removed the roof top tiles and come in from the backroom ,with back lanes without erected back lane grilles (3 houses without alarm system)

Whist all this was happening , a resident reported sighting a suspicious character inside the back lane of USJ 23/3A and USJ 23/3B at about 8.30pm. However he called another resident about 9.00 pm. ,who subsequently called others ,and residents together with Police ,came to investigate. The suspicious character would not be found, must would have made his escaped immediately ,after the sighting.

On 04/04/2001`s night  Loi, Beh, Robert, Lyon, Teh, Yee and IT Lee ( the committee members) approached all residents in USJ 5 to USJ 5/C to get them to commit erecting the back lane iron grille, and the outcome met with excellent results. The fences should be up by end April. Another lesson to learn -> do not wait and let things happened ,only then react. Imagine it is your house. Let's all be much more proactive. Be committed and do things NOW

A lesson to learn :

  • Phone the Police immediately, if you sighted a stranger or suspicious character in the neighborhood ,and at the same time go over to your neighbors to seek help. If you do not know your neighbors, you will have to help yourself.  Some residents still do not know the importance of Night Watch neighborhoodness.
  • Blow  whistle for help

4.USJ / PJ Crime Reporting

25 vehicles were reported stolen, worth more than RM 220,000 over the 48 hours on 3 & 4/04/2001.Police feedback indicated that 2 gangs are responsible for the thefts.

Therefore ,if you see suspicious characters loitering in USJ 23,to contact the Police immediately, possibly with the vehicles no. provided.

Please talk to your neighbours, and get more residents to join, the committee cannot be going to every house to approach them. Each of us have to play our small part, to ensure even better participation. Our current rate of residents participation is 89.2%.,which is rated as excellent ,if compared to our housing locations. Thank you.
