For your own safety, we would advise all participating neighbours to do
your night patrol in your car. This is for safety considerations.
Highly appreciated that
neighbours must try to meet your obligations of coming out for duty on your
assigned date.
If it rains (slight), neighbours should still
conduct their patrol in the car, therefore the rain should not stop us.
Neighbours doing their patrols should carry
their Handphone with them. This is for the purpose of emergency phone calls
Call your neighbours 2 days before the actual watch duty to reconfirm and act as
a reminder. If you are not able to perform your Night Watch duty on the assigned
date, it is the responsibility of the NW member to make the necessary
arrangement, call somebody and arrange for a replacement date.
Whilst on Night Watch Duty, please equip yourself with a torchlight, a whistle
and a "baton" or a hockey stick, please do not carry any offensive
weapons.
Drive around the neighbourhood a few times. While driving around, stop at
the entrances of the back lanes and use your torchlight to investigate. Stop
near one of the main entrances to our USJ 23, after a few rounds, you can get
out of your car for a chat or a smoke for about 15 or 20 minutes, but stick
close to your car. This will show potential intruders that patrols are being
conducted. This is a good place to stop because you can have a wider field of
vision and you can see any potential intruders coming or going. It will give you
more time to react. Continue patrolling after your 15 to 20 minutes stop. You
will be patrolling and taking breaks a few times during the duration of the
watch.
Whilst performing your Night Watch Duty, if
participating Neighbours come across, encounter or sight intruders or
suspicious characters loitering in USJ 23 neighbourhood, please either phone or
e-mail the next day to Yee Foon Kong, Robert Chan, Beh Yong Hock or Lee Chiow
Nea and provide a short report, so that our neighbours performing their duties
the next night are informed accordingly.
During Night Watch Duty, in
case on emergency, do not hesitate to sound
your car's
horn for HELP
At the end of the Night Watch Duty at
5.00am., all patrolling neighbours are requested to go to USJ 23 guard house and
write down your respective names on the assigned date in the Duty Roster Record
book. If you fail to write down your name, you will be deemed to
have not performed your Night Watch Duty.
