03/01/2002 - We receive
a letter from MPSJ dated 26/12/2001 in which reference is made to our
07/12/2001 request for the telecommunication Tower to be dismantled. We
are informed that they have given notice to the telecommunication company
to have the tower removed before 31/03/2002. (there was a typo on the
letter from MPSJ in which the year 2001 was indicated)

27/12/2001 - After some
consideration and confirmation, we doubt that the feedback that we
received yesterday holds any truth.
According to a resident who
is in the Telecommunication Business, the Tower was not there during the
construction of USJ23. It was there when he got his house keys in 1999 and
he did make a complain to Sime UEP about the Tower.
Think about this: why would
they have constructed the tower back in 1989 when during those days there
were hardly any 900/1800 mobile systems around? In those days it was the
ATUR. And in 1989 the area around USJ23 was a plantation.
Looks like the person who
wrote the feedback is not sure what he/she wrote or is just plain not
truthful.
All this does not deflect from the
fact that it was illegally constructed and should be removed immediately. |

26/12/2001 - Our
webmaster received a feedback sent in by an informed member of the public
about the telecommunication tower.
Read the
feedback here
According to the feedback, it seems that
the Tower was already illegally (so far as we know) constructed way back
in 1989 and was fully commission in 1990.
As such did Sime UEP or MPPJ/MPSJ take it into consideration (or did they
not know of it's existence in the first place?) when approval of the plans
for USJ23 were drawn up?
Are we to assume that the houses in
USJ23 within a radius of 150 metres from the tower, were illegally
constructed by Sime UEP and approved by MPPJ/MPSJ?
Why is it that some of our USJ23
neighbours have to live with mistakes made by a few irresponsible members
of large organisations? Where is the justice? |

15/12/2001 - One of our
Resident wrote a letter to The Star complaining about the lack
of action by MPSJ with regards to the removal of the illegal
Telecommunication located next to USJ23.
Are we to assume that what is legal is
legal and what is illegal needs to be verified as illegal before action
can be taken. If this was the case why come up with Government guidelines
and by-laws in the first place.
This "never mind" attitude is known and
taken advantage by many large organisations. We see it happen all around
us, it really defies logic. |

12/10/2001 - An urgent
meeting of the Residents involved was called on the evening of 12/10/2001 and it
was unanimously agreed that whilst we would not exaggerate the matter out of
proportion, we would register our complain with the authorities accordingly.

They are but only the corner houses, what about the other link
houses right next to these? What will happen if we continue to live so close to
these magnetic fields and what of our children who are exposed to this type of
danger from such a young age. |

residents nationwide, highlighting their worries about the telecommunication towers when
they are especially close to their homes. Do we have a source of worry too?

We see conflicting reports in the newspaper by
people in authority? The MPSJ president Ahmad Fuad Ismail has being reported in
the Star Newspaper on 28/09/2001 as saying that no one has ever submitted an application to
erect any Telecommunication Tower, so we now know that they are all illegal.
We are repeatedly told by bureaucrats whenever
we bring up our concerns, that all the necessary technical requirements were
observed and approvals from the relevant authorities were obtained before any such
development, now we find out that no technical requirements were observed because no approvals were
ever
obtained.
Look at it this way, the Telecommunication
Tower next to USJ23 is less than 150 meters from Kumaresan's House and even more
frightening than that (no offense to Kumaresan) is that it is located right next
to the Petronas Gas Valve Station. Did someone look into the implications of
placing the Tower so close?????????

Maybe we are a bit paranoid, but as we look
deeper into the well-being of our surrounding neighbourhood and start to find out that things
are not what they seem, wouldn't you be too? |
